Season 2
#4: Parental control: Between protection and privacy

In the framework of Children's Day, we open a space to reflect on a crucial issue for mothers, fathers, and caregivers in the digital era: Parental control. How much should we monitor our children's online activity? Is it surveillance or care? Are we protecting them or limiting their freedom? Today our children grow connected: they explore, learn, play, and relate through devices. However, this unlimited access also exposes them to risks such as scams, threats, inappropriate content, abuse, or simply excessive use of games and social media. To address this issue, we invite two experts who are also parents and both share their perspectives, discuss the limits of parental control, and offer practical advice on how to accompany our children in their digital life without infringing on their autonomy. How to achieve the balance between care and trust? What rights do our children have in the digital environment? This episode is an invitation to reflect, question, and find effective strategies to guide them with respect and responsibility.

Companies monitor their employees for various reasons: from security concerns, to optimizing billing and project management, to simply wanting to increase productivity. In some cases, this surveillance is exercised simply to achieve a sense of greater control, reduce operational risks, and take advantage of the low cost and wide availability of monitoring technologies. In this episode, we explore how digital surveillance and the use of monitoring technologies impact the privacy of workers and which rights are being violated in the process.
