PrivaciQ - Ecuador and the challenges of digital privacy
Format: In-person
Event date: Saturday, March 23, 2024
Audience: Technology enthusiasts and members of civil society organizations.
OBJECTIVES:
To discuss digital rights.
To address the issue of privacy as a human right.
To empower civil society through the use of technologies for privacy defense.
What is PrivaciQ?
It is an event aimed at bringing the discussion about human rights in the digital sphere to society at large and, on the other hand, contributing to the strengthening of citizens’ digital autonomy through the use of open-source tools and Free Software for privacy and security protection.
The event will feature practical workshops, talks, and panel discussions.
This event is organized by the Digital Autonomy Center with the collaboration of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Central University of Ecuador.
At PrivaciQ, you will be able to attend workshops where you will learn to protect your data using open-source software tools. Additionally, we will have talks with experts in security and privacy, as well as panels addressing concerns about defending rights on the web.
In this new edition, the theme “Ecuador and the challenges of digital privacy” has been proposed due to the context of internal turmoil that Ecuador is currently undergoing. This is because the declaration of internal armed conflict in the country implies a temporary suspension of some rights, and naturally, privacy, both physical and digital, is one of them. For this reason, it is essential to create spaces for dialogue and dissemination to protect ourselves as a community.
If you are interested in addressing any of these topics, we invite you to apply within one of the themes that we have proposed for this year’s edition, under the format of a talk or a practical workshop.
